IYRS Meeting In Review

The SAMPE Boston Chapter organized an enjoyable and informative event on September 24th, 2024 at the IYRS School of Technology & Trades in Newport, RI with around 40 – 45 attendees present.  There was a strong mix of professional and student attendees.

IYRS kicked off the event by providing a tour of their facilities and laboratory space.  IYRS offers four separate technology tracks including, boat building & restoration, composite process technology, digital modeling & fabrication, and marine services, all with a focus on developing “hands on” skills versus book learning.

Michael Novak provided an update on the status and future plans of the SAMPE Boston Chapter and introduced the featured speaker, Philip Steggall.

Philip then concluded the night with a presentation and discussion on sound hiring & training practices for developing and growing a strong composites manufacturing team.

The SAMPE Boston Chapter would like to thank IYRS for hosting the event and Philip Steggall for giving an interesting and thought-provoking presentation.  Keep on the lookout for future events, activities, & programs from the SAMPE Boston Chapter!
